D’ONOFRIO, LOUIS JR. Louis D’Onofrio Jr., 81, of West Haven died on April 15, 2015. He was the devoted husband of the late Janice D’Onofrio. He was the loving father of Nancy & Lou (Kathy) D’Onofrio and proud Poppie of Gina & Michael. He was a kind and gentle man who was always there to help his friends and family. He will be dearly missed by all that knew him. He was born on Christmas Day with his twin sister, the late Geraldine Gross, to the late Louis & Rose D’Onofrio. He was the owner of Universal Builders Corporation in Branford, CT with his late brother Marshall. He was also the brother of the late Marion Geadt and Chuck and Ronald D’Onofrio. He is survived by many nieces and nephews who he cherished dearly. He was a graduate of the second class of Notre Dame High School, 1951 and served in the United States Army. He proudly served the West Haven community for over 60 years. He was a former member and chairman of the West Haven Democratic Town Committee, Board of Police Commissioners, West Shore Fire Commissioners, Redevelopment Agency, and former member of Zoning Board of Appeals. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Victory Church, former member of the Sacred Heart Academy Board of Directors, member of the Italian American Club and Elks Club. Nancy and Lou would like to thank the doctors, nurses and care givers at the West Haven VA facility for the wonderful care they gave their father.
