MURPHY, SHANE P. Shane Patrick Murphy, 19, died on Wednesday December 23rd, 2015 at his home in Stony Creek, Branford. He was born on August 10th, 1996 in New Haven and was the beloved son of Michael J. and Phyllis A. Sorensen Murphy, as well as a twin to his sister Cassidy A. Murphy. Shane was a graduate of the BHS class of 2014 where he was a member of the National Honor Society. After many years playing youth hockey for the Greater New Haven Warriors, he continued his career on the BHS varsity team and played intramural hockey with his college friends at the University of New Hampshire. Shane was a kind, generous, and adventurous person who had a passion for his loud pearly white truck, and his boat. Shane, his family, and friends spent many vacations traveling to the Caribbean, Maine, and New Hampshire where he would find his love for the outdoors, especially water-skiing. After the many years that Shane spent in New Hampshire, he knew it was fitting to choose to attend UNH as a mechanical engineering major. Aside from his love for New Hampshire, his family and his friends, Shane grew up working at the Dockside Restaurant on the shore of Branford where his co-workers soon became a second family to him. Every time he came home from a long day of work or from school, Shane was greeted at the door by his four-legged, furry “brother”, Max. Besides his parents and sister, Shane is survived by his maternal grandparents, Diane and Bob Sorensen of Northford, his paternal grandmother Carol (Peter) Leahy of Wallingford and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Shane was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Walter “Pop Pop” Murphy. Friends may call Monday from 4 – 8 PM at the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford and are invited to Tabor Lutheran Church in Branford, Tuesday morning at 11:00 for a funeral service. Burial will be private.
