WILLIAM HINE Obituary

HINE, WILLIAM MICHAEL William Michael Hine, age 73, died Saturday, December 17, 2016, at Palmetto Health Tuomey after a brief illness. Born in Middletown, he was the son of the late John Porter Hine, Sr. and the late Evelyn Keane Hine. Mr. Hine was raised in Killingworth, and attended Morgan High School in Clinton. After high school, Michael attended and graduated from Bates College. Michael enjoyed athletics and played basketball and soccer in both high school and college. After college, Mr. Hine enlisted in the Air Force where he served for a little over four years as a morse code intercept operator stationed in Taiwan. Michael’s true passion in life was sailing, and he would set sail every summer for Block Island off the coast of Rhode Island. He also volunteered every Wednesday for the Clinton Food Bank. Mike will be remembered as a loving brother and uncle and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Surviving are: a brother, Douglas Hine and his wife Mary of Sumter, SC; two nephews, Richard Hine and John Hine and his wife Maria; one great nephew, Porter Hine; one great niece, Ansley Hine and one sister-in-law, Joanne Hine. In addition to his parents, Michael was predeceased by a brother, John Porter Hine Jr. Services will be private.
