Joseph Latella Sr. Obituary
LATELLA, JOSEPH C., SR. Joseph C. Latella, Sr., 55, of Orange beloved husband to Carmel Nicoletti Latella, passed away at Yale-New Haven Hospital on February 26, 2014. Son of Joseph F. Latella of Orange and the late Marie Palmieri-Amendola. He was born on March 23, 1958, in New Haven and grew up in West Haven. Besides his loving wife, he is survived by his three children: Joseph C. Latella, Jr. and Michael J. (Adrian) Latella, Sr. of Orange; Jill Latella of West Haven; and his dog Jake. He is also survived by his two grandchildren, Michael Latella, Jr. and Olivia Latella. Joseph was a great friend and an amazing father and husband; he was a family concentrated man who looked forward to Sunday dinners, holidays, Toy-runs, and any excuse to spend time with his family and friends. Joseph was fond of tradition, and made every effort to pass down traditions from his children to his grandchildren. Joseph was the proud owner of Latella & Sons and Latella Rubbish Removal and spent much of his time at work surrounded by friends, family and loved ones. Joseph was very fond of his farm animals especially his cows and draft horses. He enjoyed spending his down time watching John Wayne marathons, salt water fishing and cooking. He wanted to make sure his children followed their passions, and to remember that family always comes first. He always said “Never forget where you came from” and “Everyone has hard times.” The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the doctors and especially the nurses of the Yale-New Haven Hospital MICU for their tireless efforts and compassionate care especially Terrence, Natalie, and Jen. His funeral procession will leave the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 830 Jones Hill Rd., West Haven Saturday morning at 9:00. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Holy Infant Church at 10:00. Interment will follow in Orange Cemetery. Friends may call FRIDAY from 4:00-8:00 PM. Memorial Contributions may be made to the ., the American , Toys for Tots, or the West Haven Soup Kitchen.
