ZONENSHINE, ESTHER HARTMAN Esther Hartman Zonenshine, 93, passed away at Connecticut Hospice on Thursday, March 13, 2014. A lifetime New Haven resident, Esther was the eldest daughter of Nathan and Molly Hartman. In addition to raising a family, Esther retired in the 80’s from her executive position with the National Association of Supermarket Apparel Distributors. She was an active volunteer throughout her life, including a long tenure as President of Hadassah’s New Haven chapter. She was a long time member of Congregation Bikur Cholim Sheveth Achim. She was an active resident at Tower One, both participating in and leading programs. In addition to her passion for her family, Esther was a writer, artist, and rabid UConn Basketball fan. She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Max Zonenshine, and sisters Rebecca (Rhea) Beckman and Mildred Greenberg. She is survived by her loving sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Kim Zonenshine, Jeffrey Zonenshine and Marcia Minuskin, and Larry and Mary Ann Zonenshine. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Dana Zonenshine Noorily and Dave Noorily, Tami Zonenshine Weeks and Jason Weeks, Sarah Zonenshine and Matthew Green, Jennifer and Joel Thompson, Alicia Zonenshine, David and Sarah Zonenshine, and Jonathan Zonenshine; cherished great-grandchildren, Ryland, Logan and Mack Noorily, Emerson and Asher Weeks and Benjamin Max Green; and many devoted nieces and nephews. Funeral services at Robert E. Shure Funeral Home, 543 George St., New Haven SUNDAY afternoon at 1:00 o’clock with interment services to follow at Connecticut Lodge Cemetery, Jewell St., New Haven.
