TRAFICANTI, SR. ROSE MARIE (BENIGNA), ASCJ Sr. Rose Marie (Benigna) Traficanti, ASCJ, died March 17, 2014, in Yale New Haven Hospital, St. Raphael Campus. She was born in Pittsburgh, PA, December 4, 1915, to the late Michael and Raffaela Cesta Traficanti. Sr. Rose Marie entered the Apostles of the Sacred Heart of Jesus August 12, 1933, in New Haven, Professed first vows August 27, 1935, and Professed perpetual vows August 24, 1941. Sr. Rose Marie taught and served as administrator in schools throughout the country for 62 years in active ministry, including three years at St. Anthony School, New Haven, CT; seven years at St. Michael School, New Haven, CT; five years at St. Raphael School, Bridgeport, CT; eleven years at Sacred Heart Private School in the Bronx, NY; and twenty years in the Morning Star program in Pinellas Park, FL. Sr. Rose Marie also ministered in Rhode Island and Missouri. Sr. Rose Marie retired to Sacred Heart Manor in 1997, where she remained active assisting others in need as well as participating in the various activities at the Clelian Adult Day Center. Sr. Rose Marie received a bachelor’s degree in Social Studies from Fordham University, New York, NY. During her seventeen years as an Apostle Adorer at Sacred Heart Manor, Sr. Rose Marie was faithful in her apostolate of praying for her family, her sister Apostles and all those who entrusted themselves to her prayers. Upon her mission as an Apostle Adorer, Sr. Rose Marie said, “It is through prayer and sacrifice that I am still giving to others.” She always reminded everyone, “God loves you.” Predeceased by her parents; her brothers, Anthony, Mauro, Joseph; and her sisters, Mary and Cora. She is survived by loving nieces and nephews and Sister Apostles, her religious family. Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 at Sacred Heart Manor, 261 Benham St., Hamden. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Manor Chapel Thursday afternoon at 2:30. Burial in All Saints Cemetery.
