Ernest Hill Obituary
HILL, ERNEST A. Ernest A. Hill, of Killingworth, and formerly of East Haven, died on April 12, 2014. He was born on July 1, 1939, in New Haven, the son of the late Raymond Hill, Sr., and Cecilia Hill. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years Iris; son Ernest Joseph Friedman-Hill and his wife Stacia; daughter Christine Hill Corriveau and her husband Russell; two grandchildren Danielle and Zachary Friedman-Hill; brother Raymond Hill, Jr. and his wife Karen; sister Marilyn Hill Lyon and her husband Edmond; nieces and nephews. Ernest served in the Navy Reserve for six years with two years active duty aboard the USS Macon CA132. He worked for several years at Echlin MFG in Branford and worked for 35 years at Sargent Manufacturing in management. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 10657; The Connecticut, Mystic, New England and National Woodcarver Associations. He received his Associates Degree in Management from the University of New Haven. He was a former member of the Killingworth Board of Finance and a former PTA president. He was a member of St. Lawrence Church in Killingworth, he formerly served on their parish council and taught woodcarving classes. He did many of the carvings at the church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wed. April 16th, at 10:30am in St. Lawrence Church, 7 Hemlock Dr., Killingworth. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Clinton. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 6-8pm at Swan Funeral Home, 80 E. Main St., Clinton and for a half hour prior to the funeral on Wednesday in church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Lustgarten Foundations (a pancreatic cancer research foundation) at www.lustgarten.org or to Conn. Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT.
