GARAND, BETTY A. (RUOTOLO) Betty A. (Ruotolo) Garand, 81, of Milford, entered into rest on April 13 at the home of her daughter. She was the widow of Lionel R. Garand. Devoted mother of Lynn Garand, Cheryl Garand Brown & Leo Garand. Mother-in-law of Jim Williams, Fred Brown and Lisa Kwasniewski Garand. Proud nanny of the late Kari Carbone, Chelsea & Bailey Brown, Lacey (Sal) D’Amato, Jesse (Ashley) Garand, Jake Garand & of great-grandson Lorenzo D’Amato. She also leaves her brother-in-law Carl Pearson and his family, Scott (Michelle) Pearson, Craig Pearson, Heather Pearson-Mallamaci (Carmen). Betty was predeceased by her sister Shirley Pearson. She retired from the West Haven Board of Education where she was employed in food service. Betty volunteered at the Milford Citizen Center, where she was also an active member. Through the years, she enjoyed local beaches and beach vacations with her late husband, her children and grandchildren. If Betty and Leo were not home, they were traveling somewhere. Betty’s family would like to express their gratitude to The Chaifetz Family Hospice and to Monica Simms for their exceptional compassion and care during her time at home. The hours for visitation will take place Thursday from 4 to 7 pm at the West Haven Funeral Home at the green, 662 Savin Ave. West Haven. A celebration of her life will follow on FRIDAY at noon at the funeral home. Her cremains will be scattered at a later date. Betty loved flowers.
