BURKE, MARJORIE SMITH Marjorie Smith Burke, 95, a life-long resident of West Haven, beloved mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother, died April 15, 2014, at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. Marjorie was born in West Haven, June 15, 1918, a daughter of the late John and Beatrice Pote Smith. For many years, she worked as a concessionaire on the old midway at Savin Rock, where she lived most of her life. She also worked for Morrissey Catering as a catering manager for 25 years She had been very active in the West Haven Democratic Party for most of her life. She enjoyed fun at the casino, concerts, being at the beach, her friends at Dubel’s Café, and most of all, time she could share with her family. Mom was a woman of positive thoughts and high spirits who truly believed, as she often said, “Everything is beautiful.” She is survived by three loving daughters, Susan (George) Hutchinson, of Hamden, Deborah (Roland Alfano) Burke-Davins, and Marjorie (Dave) Petruzziello, both of West Haven; three very special grandchildren, Angela (Mark Hanley) Hutchinson, of Clinton, George Hutchinson IV, of New Haven, and Courtney Petruzziello, of West Haven; two cherished great-grandchildren, Samantha Burke Ashton, of Clinton, and Mya Burke Figula, of West Haven. Marjorie was preceded in death by her sister, Marie Smith. The funeral will be from the Keenan Funeral Home, 238 Elm Street, West Haven, Tuesday, at 9:15, with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Lawrence Church at 10:00.
