Dorothy Barth Obituary
BARTH, DOROTHY R. Dorothy R. Barth died May 5, 2014, peacefully at her home in North Haven, CT, after a brief illness. Born in Chicago, IL June 8, 1922, to the late Michael Bauer and Margaret Grimm Bauer, Dorothy was predeceased by her husband of 48 years, William Barth, also of Chicago. She was also predeceased by her brothers Elmer (Elizabeth) and Robert. She is survived by her sister, Sr. Corinne Bauer, RSM, of McCauley Manor, Aurora, IL; as well as her sister-in-law Betty Bauer of Hinsdale, IL. Dorothy is survived by her children, Margaret Hyde (Charles) of Garland, TX and Elizabeth McElrath (Terry) of North Haven, CT. Grandchildren include Robert Hyde, Peter (Sarah) Hyde and Walter McElrath, as well as many nieces and nephews. Dorothy attended school in Chicago and then worked until her marriage to Bill on May 18, 1946. Eventually they moved their family to Dolton, IL, where they lived for 40 years until Bill’s death in 1994. She moved to Oak Lawn IL in 1996 and lived there until 2009 when she moved to North Haven to be with her family and their many dogs. In North Haven she worshipped at St. Barnabas, enjoying the occasional rogue Episcopalian service at St. Johns in North Haven. A memorial service is being planned in early June at St. Linus Catholic Church in Oak Lawn, IL. Special thanks to Carol Stevens and Barbara Barski, her “Chicago daughters.” www.northhavenfuneral.com
