LAFFIN, ALICE MARY PETRO Alice Mary Petro Laffin, 75, of Wallingford, died June 7, 2014. She entered this world October 7, 1938, a daughter of the late John Paul Petro and Irene Rita Jeannette (Ginnotti) Petro. It was a beautiful hot and sunny day on July 21, 1962, when she became the bride of Joseph M. Laffin. She was the doting mother of two sons, Joseph M. Laffin Jr., and his wife Patty Ann Richards of North Carolina, and the late David Laffin. She is survived by her grandchildren, Danny Laffin of North Carolina, Susan Marie Gilland of Florida and a great granddaughter, Caliana Gilland of Florida. They were the joy of her life. She is survived by two sisters, Barbara J. Dunham of South Berwick, ME, and Patience R. Beascon of Ruidoso, NM; one brother Joseph R. Petro of Crossville, TN; and a sister-in-law, Lynne Petro of Crossville, TN. In addition to her parents and son, she was predeceased by her brother, John Paul Petro, Jr. She will be missed by her three nieces and seven nephews. Alice Mary is loved by her seven aunts, and many cousins. Before retiring she was employed by Unimax Switch Company. Alice liked to volunteer, she gave many hours to the Yalesville Volunteer Fire Department and worked with the Wallingford Elks Lodge 1365 on their charities. Whenever help was needed she was right there lending her hand, and giving her all, with a great sense of humor and smile. Her family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., Wallingford, Wednesday, June 11, 2014, from 4 to 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday at 7 p.m. A graveside service will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at Beaverdale Memorial Park, Pine Rock Ave., New Haven. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home before at 9 a.m. to pay last respects. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory may be sent to Masters Manna, 46 N. Plains Industrial Rd.
