Geraldine Lubowicki Obituary
LUBOWICKI, GERALDINE (JERI) DUNN Geraldine (Jeri) Dunn Lubowicki, 61, of Hamden, died peacefully on June 28, 2014, after a brief illness. She was the wife and best friend of Charles Lubowicki, Sr., and loving mother to Charles Jr. and Sarah Anne and her other son, Brian Cox. She was born in New Haven on July 18, 1952, to the late David and Edna (Lindquist) Dunn. She taught for many years as a Reading Specialist in the Hamden school system and a kindergarten teacher at St. Stephen School. Later, she enjoyed working as a Hallmark card specialist for Walgreens. She was also the silent outspoken partner of Dunn’s Pub with her husband. A true Irish American, she could be found in the corner, enjoying a warm beer and willing to gossip with anyone about anything. She always put others first, especially her family, and particularly loved watching “her boys” in the Connecticut Firefighters Pipes and Drums perform. A philanthropist who didn’t want recognition, she helped raise funds for Walgreens Pink Ribbon Campaign, New Haven St. Patrick’s Day Parade, and many other charities. Her favorite event was her annual fundraiser for the YNHH Toy Closet. In her semi-retirement, she enjoyed traveling with her family on cruises, and trips to Smuggler’s Notch and Orlando “to see Mickey.” Her family cannot thank the whole staff at YNHH Neuro ICU 6-2 enough for their loving care and support. Her family will receive friends and family on Tuesday, July 1, 2014, from 4pm to 8pm at Sisk Brothers Funeral Home, 3105 Whitney Ave., Hamden. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 2, at 11am at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Friends are asked to gather at the church on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Yale New Haven Hospital Toy Closet. To leave an online condolence, please visit www.siskbrothers.com
