Obituary Condolences

KINNARE, JOHN John Edward Kinnare, 68 of Cross Road died peacefully early Sunday afternoon, July 6, 2014 in the comfort of his home with his family by his side following an extended illness. John was born in New Haven, Connecticut on February 16, 1946 the son of Thomas and Edna (Whitmore) Kinnare. He was raised and educated in Guilford, Connecticut and was a graduate of Guilford High School, Class of 1964. He went on to attend the University of New Haven. A proud veteran, John served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged from active service in September 1971. A former resident of Madison, Connecticut, he was a licensed insurance agent and owner of the Kinnare Insurance Agency in Guilford which he operated for 23 years. Upon his retirement in 1991 he moved to West Chesterfield where, with his wife, he established Hemlock Hill Antiques. A life-long Catholic, John was a communicant of Saint Michael’s Roman Catholic Church in Brattleboro and was a former parishioner of Saint George Catholic Church in Guilford. While in Connecticut he was a member of the Guilford Lions Club. Of his pastimes and interests, John enjoyed golfing, antiques, landscaping, refinishing furniture and long drives through the country. He was especially proud of his children and grandchildren, his home on Cross Road, and loved puttering around his house. On January 11, 1969 at Saint George Catholic Church in Guilford he was married to Sheila Landon who survives. Besides his faithful and loving wife of 45 years, he leaves one son, Brian Kinnare of Ventura, California, two daughters, Jennifer Ingham and her husband Robert of Manchester, New Hampshire, Lisa Kinnare Kopcha and her husband Michael of Spofford, two brothers, Thomas Kinnare of Godfrey, Illinois and William Kinnare of Guilford, Connecticut and a sister, Jean Kinnare of Guilford. Additionally he is survived by five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 11:00 A.M. at Saint Michael’s Catholic Church with Fr. James Dodson, pastor, celebrant. Burial with military honors will take place Friday at 2:00 P.M. in Chesterfield West Cemetery on Poor Road. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in John’s name may be made to Prospect Place, 361 Court Street, Keene, N.H. 03431 or to the Chesterfield Fire & Rescue, P.O. Box 95, Chesterfield, NH 03443.
