Vincent J. Devlin Obituary
DEVLIN, VINCENT J. Vincent John Devlin, 79, loving husband of Ruth Miller Devlin, beloved father and grandfather, died Saturday, June 4, 2011, at the Smilow Cancer Center at Yale-New Haven Hospital, surrounded by his family. Vincent was born in New Haven, April 7, 1932 the son of Vincent and Catherine Fenton Devlin. A U.S. Army veteran, he served his country from 1950 to 1962, first during the Korean Conflict and then in the Army Reserves. Before his retirement he had been a truck driver with Eder Brothers for 30 years and a member of Teamster's Local 443. Besides his wife Ruth, he is survived by his five children, Cheryl (Joseph) Vitelli of North Branford, Mark (Rita) Devlin of Guilford, Steven Devlin of New Haven, Gregory (Jennifer Polino) Devlin of New Haven, and Sally Devlin Lamb of Beverly Hills, Florida. He also leaves 11 loving grandchildren who truly adored their grandfather. He was predeceased by his four siblings, Edmund, Edward "Bobby", John, and Catherine Devlin Bova. The funeral will be from the Keenan Funeral Home, 238 Elm Street, West Haven, Wednesday morning at 9:15. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Lawrence Church at 10:00. Burial, will military honors, will be in All Saints Cemetery, North Haven. Friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 8 pm. Those wishing to offer condolences online may do so at www.keenanfuneralhome.com.
