ALLEN, VIRGINIA TERHUNE Virginia Terhune Allen, 85, of Madison, Connecticut passed away on Jan. 9, 2012 at Middlesex Hospital after a brief illness. Virginia was born on March 15, 1926 in New Haven, CT, daughter of Harry and Ruth Terhune. She grew up in East River, where she met William, her late husband of 52 years. She graduated from Northfield School for Girls and attended Boston University. Jinny felt great delight in her home, in raising their two sons, and in her career which spanned 44 years in the Madison Public Schools. Her positions there connected her love of children and books. She was an amazing cook, kept beautiful gardens, had a great sense of style, enjoyed a deep faith, and always demonstrated a strong will. She adored her five grandchildren and their partners: Jeffrey Allen, Jr. and Stachia Callahan of Madison, Joshua Allen and Linda Flores of Austin, TX, Christine Allen Houghton and Nathan Houghton of Durham, NC, Scott and Heather Rufin of Guilford, CT, and Jeffery Rufin of San Diego, CA. She is also survived by her sons Jeffrey and his wife, Donna, of Madison, and Kent and his wife Susan of Yarmouth, ME, as well as her brother, David Terhune. She was predeceased by her sister, Jean Terhune D'Angio. A service celebrating Jinny's life will be held at First Congregational Church in Madison on Saturday, January 21 at 1:30 PM.
