BONITO, Benjamin, JR. Benjamin Bonito, Jr., 70, of West Haven, husband of Hana Kozankova Bonito, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, died Sunday, May 20, 2012. He was born in New Haven, May 5, 1942, the son of the late Benjamin and Evelyn Giammattei Bonito Sr., He was stationed at Guantanamo Bay during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Benjamin served honorably in the U.S. Navy under the Administration of President John F. Kennedy. He was a real estate developer in the greater New Haven area. In earlier years he had been a restaurateur and was widely recognized for his musical talent as an accordionist. He miraculously survived cancer twice in his lifetime. Besides his wife Hana, Mr. Bonito is survived by his sons, Louis Bonito and wife Janet, of East Haven, Christopher Bonito, of West Haven; Chet Bonito, of Clinton; a daughter, Christine Bonito, of Clinton; a brother Richard Bonito and wife Terisa, of California; a sister, Carolyn Esposito and husband Alexander of Wallingford; two grandchildren, Christopher Bonito Jr. and Natalie Bonito, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a sister, Rosalie Bonito. The funeral will be from the Keenan Funeral Home, 238 Elm Street, West Haven, Wednesday at 12:15pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary Church, Hillhouse Avenue, New Haven, at 1:00. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, North Haven.
