Edward Basquill Jr. Obituary
Basquill, Edward P., Jr. Edward P. Basquill Jr., 95, formerly of Seacrest Retirement Center in West Haven passed away on Wednesday, October 10, 2012, at Brittany Farms Health Care Center in New Britain. Edward was born on May 18, 1917, in Troy, New York, son of the late Edward P. and Mary Broderick Basquill, Sr. He was a veteran of WWII, proudly serving his country as a radioman 1st class aboard the U.S.S. Phillipine for the Navy Air Corp. He also served during the Korean Conflict. Upon his discharge from the Navy, Edward became a project manager for the Kelly Construction Company. He had a great love of the sea and enjoyed many years of sailing the Caribbean and living aboard his sailboat in Florida, Hawaii and Costa Rica. In later years, he resided with his sister, Margaret in Milford and enjoyed both gardening and golfing. Edward could often be found lovingly tending his beautiful rose garden. He was a prolific reader, loved animals and thoroughly enjoyed listening to classical music while sipping a good martini. He is survived by his brother, Francis X. Basquill of Hartford, his nieces Sharon A. (David) Furtak of Wallingford and Patricia A. (Timothy) Pickering of Essex. Nephews Edward P. Basquill of Ocala, Fla. and Michael F. Basquill of Del Ray Beach, Fla.. He also leaves behind his close friend Larry Plude. Edward was predeceased by his sister Margaret C. Basquill and two brothers Harold and Vincent Basquill. The hours of visitation will take place Saturday, October 20, from 11am to 12noon with a service at 12noon at the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green.
