Joseph Giordano Obituary
GIORDANO, JOSEPH Joseph (Joe G) Giordano of East Haven died peacefully November 6, 2012 at Masonicare. He was the beloved husband of the late Gloria Sansone Giordano. Father of Olivia (Gary) Kern and Joseph (Joann) Giordano, Jr. Brother of Antoinette (Andrew) Cafiero, Frank "Bucky" (Terri) Giordano and the late Carmel Conte, James and Stephen Giordano. Brother-in-law of Dolores Giordano. Proud grandfather of Joseph and Jeffrey Giordano, Ari and Jamin Bricker. Joe was born in New Haven September 6, 1925 to the late Frank and Louise Amodio Giordano. He served with US Navy and was a part of the D-Day invasion of Normandy in 1944. He was wounded after landing on Normandy Beach and was awarded the Purple Heart. After returning home, Joe began his career as a truck driver at Branch Motor Express where he worked for 40 years and was also shop steward. He was a member of Teamsters Local 443, the Umberto Club, the Military Order of the Purple Heart, American Legion Post 89, DAV, AmVets Post 1, Annex YMA and Branford Elks Lodge 1939. The Giordano family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Fr. McGivney Center for the wonderful care they gave Joe G. His funeral will leave the IOVANNE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 11 Wooster Pl., Saturday morning at 9 for a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Pompeii Church at 9:30. Burial with full military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Friday from 4-8pm. Kindly omit flowers and make contributions to Fr. Michael J.
