Roberta Lawrence Obituary

LAWRENCE, ROBERTA Roberta (Bobbie) Lawrence, 91, of New Haven, CT and Sherman Oaks, CA, died in her sleep January 19 at her residence in Sherman Oaks. A graduate of Vassar College, class of 1942, and past President of the New Haven Vassar Club, she went back to school at age 50 and earned an MA in Epidemiology and Public Health from Yale University in 1974. After working on several projects as a staff scientist at Yale's school of EPH, she was appointed Associate Research Scientist, Therapeutic Radiology in 1984. She served as Director of the Tumor Registry at Yale New Haven Hospital (1984-89), where she researched survival statistics for women's cancer. She is survived by her beloved husband of 70 years, Dr. William Lawrence, Associate Clinical Professor Emeritus at Yale Medical School and former head of the Yale Dental Department. Beloved mother of Roberta Lawrence of Pasadena CA; Melody Lawrence (Michael Putnam) of New York City; Mitchell Lawrence (Elya) of Sherman Oaks; beloved grandmother of Katherine and William Lawrence.
