BIERMANN, PAULA L. (ZIEGLER) Paula Louise Biermann, 84, of North Guilford, Ct. peacefully passed away at her home on Saturday, January 26, 2013 after a long and very courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She was born in New Haven in 1928 to the late Paula Rotman Ziegler and Frederick Ziegler and grew up in Morris Cove. She is predeceased by her loving husband, Frederick Albrecht Biermann, who passed away nearly 3 years ago. She is survived by her brother, Frederick Ziegler of Flossmoor, Illinois, daughter, Janis of Yonkers, N.Y., daughter, Karen, who resides in Germany and son, Kurt of Guilford. Her grandson, Max, also resides in Germany. Paula loved being with her family. She had comfort in spending her last days with her children. Paula was a graduate of Nathan Hale High School and McConnell Airline School. She worked as a secretary at the former New Haven State Teachers College and as a stenographer for the FBI in Washington, DC before marrying her beloved Fred. She felt privileged to work at Baldwin Middle High School for 23 years. She was a member of the North Guilford Congregational Church and greatly appreciated all the love, support and prayers the congregation extended to her. Paula and her children thank the GYN Oncology team at Smilow Cancer Center for the compassion and excellent care they provided. The burial service is private. A memorial service will be held on February 2, 2013 at 11am at the North Guilford Congregational Church, 159 Ledge Hill Road, Guilford, CT 06437. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the North Guilford Congregational Church. Arrangements are with the Hawley Lincoln Memorial, Guilford.
