ABATELLO, ANDREW S. Andrew S. Abatello of New Haven died peacefully March 28, 2013 at Meriden Center. He was the beloved husband of 64 years to Philomena (Filomena) Christoforo Abatello. Loving father of Rosemary (Paul) Considine, Teresa (John) Marchitto and Barbara Abatello Consiglio. Brother of the late Arline Trotta, Angelina and Frank Abatello. Also survived by 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a nephew Frank Abatello. Andrew was born in New Haven October 15, 1925 to the late Frank James Abatello and Teresa Staiano Abatello Vendola. He served his country with honor in the US Navy during WWII aboard the USS Wilkes Barre. Upon being honorably discharged he began his career as a member of the New Haven Fire Dept. riding Engine 10 for 27 years. His family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Montowese Health Center, Yale New Haven Hospital, Smilow Cancer Hospital, Meriden Center and VNA Hospice for the compassionate care they gave him through the years. His funeral will leave the IOVANNE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 11 Wooster Pl., Saturday morning at 9:30 for a Blessing in St. Michael's Church at 10. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Saturday morning from 8:30-9:30. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 2 at 10am in St. Francis Church, Ferry St., New Haven.
