CRANTON, WILLIAM GLOVER William Glover Cranton, husband of Pauline "Polly" Cranton, died peacefully in his home on Saturday, July 27, 2013, with his loving family by his side. Born on May 28th, 1921, in Haverhill, MA, Bill was the second child of William James and Bertha (Delaney) Cranton. Bill proudly served in the United States Navy, on the Destroyer USS Edwards. A 1946 graduate of Tufts University in Electrical Engineering, Bill worked for many companies including Westinghouse, Litton Industries, and the Phillips Corporation. Bill enjoyed his work as well as his play. An avid golfer, hiker, cross country skier and boater. Bill enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. On February 26, 1946 he married Pauline "Polly" Dumont. Besides his loving wife of 67 years, he is survived by his three daughters; Nancy Cranton of Texas, Kathleen Cranton of Virginia, and Maryanne Leichter and her husband Malcolm of Connecticut. He is also survived by his three grandchildren; Jenifer Easthom of Virginia, Elizabeth Leichter and her husband Michael Bogue and William Leichter of Connecticut. He is also survived by his sister, Gloria "Go-go" Kimball of Florida, as well as many nieces, nephews and close friends. A Mass of Christian burial has been planned for Thursday, August 1st, at 10:30 AM at St. Barnabas Catholic Church at 44 Washington Ave., North Haven, CT. Friends and family may visit starting at 9:30 AM at the church. The service is followed by interment at All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Gaylord Hospital, Development Office P.O Box 400 Wallingford, CT 06492.
