Hello,

I remember a very happy Bobby Reed as one of the older kids in the neighborhood in Charlottesville. I was 10 and he was a teen and I often wondered what happened to him. It's regrettable that our local community did not embrace him and his talent, but then that is definitely our loss.

This is a bit late, but my condolences to the family.

I am so dissapointed I was unable to visit Bob before his passing, or to pay my respects at his services. My hope is that his artwork brings love and happiness to his family to help heal their sadness.

Sincere condolences to Susan and Mark. Bob was a true gentleman. I enjoyed working with him. He treated me with respect. Every time I go by a certain spot at 91 Diner I say a quick prayer for him.We didn't get to our lunch after Christmas. I remember many years of seein you three from the time Mark was a very young man. Bob was and inspiration to all his students. Miss him very much.

Susan--John and I are so very sorry that you and the world have lost dear Robert. What a life he lived and a legacy he leaves. We know that mere words of condolences cannot ease the loss you bear. Our hope is that you will find some comfort in the thought the we care and others do as well.

We lift our prayers and offer our support to you and your family and are reminded of a scripture in the 14th Chapter, 18th verse of John: "I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you". It has been of help to us.

In Friendship and Sympathy,
Diane and John Turner

Robert Reed was the most kind and generous of teachers. He had a lovely way of connecting with his students, even when our work was very different than his, and you couldn't imagine what he'd see in it, but he always had constructive and intriguing things to say. He took his role as our teacher very seriously. He was very thoughtful and he shared personal stories from his life and made you feel like a welcome friend. I always loved hearing about what he was doing with his classes.

The first teacher I met at Yale coming from SVA and Mexico City was Robert Reed. He welcomed me and showed me how important it was to be connected as well as how I was important to the Program and the University. We had wonderful conversations about color, especially colors from under the Sea and technology. I am
sad I was unable to meet him again. Gracias, Robert Reed for making me feel welcome. Visual Artist, Mexico.
