ELIZABETH BECKER Obituary

BECKER, ELIZABETH M. (BETH)Elizabeth M. Becker (Beth), aged 95, of Madison, CT, most recently living with her daughter and son-in-law in San Francisco, CA, passed away on February 1, 2017. Beth was born July 1, 1921 in New Haven, CT, daughter of Thomas Charles Mason of New Haven, CT and Marie Eileen Mason (Leich) of Brooklyn, NY. She was a graduate of Albertus Magnus College (BA, 1942) and Yale University (MA, 1943). Beth was married to Loftus E. Becker. Shortly after they were married, they moved to Paris, France, where they lived for 6 years and her daughter, Kathleen E. Becker, was born. She remembered those as some of the happiest years of her life. Beth had a long career in market research on Madison Avenue, NY, where she worked for Young & Rubicam and Cunningham & Walsh. She was a member of the League of Women Voters, on the board of the Madison Foundation, and a member of the Madison Winter Club. Beth was very socially active, and enjoyed playing bridge, was an avid bowler and bocce player, and enjoyed the company of her many friends. Although she was living in San Francisco the last few years, her heart remained in Madison where she had wonderful family and friends, and felt a deep connection to the community. Beth is survived by her daughter Kathy Becker and son-in-law Eric Weidner. She was predeceased by her husband, Loftus Becker, brother, Thomas Mason, and sister Rosemarie Mason Smith.
