LYDIA LANDIS Obituary

Cheshire - Lydia Jeanne Landis, 81, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2017, after an extended battle with cancer. Born the daughter of Arthur and Lydia (née Schmidt) Landis, August 22, 1935, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Lydia served as a speech pathologist in Minneapolis, MN in the late 1950s, and for the State of Connecticut, 1972-1997. She received a Masters of Public Health from Yale University in 1988. Survived by 2 sons: Peter Holquist and his wife Diana and children Hana and Isaiah, of Bala Cynwyd, PA; and Benjamin Holquist and his wife Carol and daughter Meghan of Ellicott City, MD; and by her daughter-in-law Martha Holquist, of North Branford; and by her niece Lisa Hayes and nephew Peter Landis. Pre-deceased by her parents; her brother Jim; and her youngest son, Joshua. The family would like to thank Gary Tanzino, MD of Mid-State Medical Center Oncology for the compassionate care of their mother for the last thirteen years, and also the staff of Masonicare-Wallingford for their kindness to their mother over the last several months. Per her wishes, there are no calling hours and the funeral is private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice. The Alderson-Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main St, is in charge of the arrangements. For online condolences, to share a photo or a story, please visit www.fordfh.com.

Lydia was a fun and vibrant member of our church. She came to our house a couple of times for meetings about our church and she had great insights. She will be missed by all.
