LAFAYETTE - Leon B. Godfrey, age 80, of Lafayette, died suddenly, on Friday, April 22, 2016, with his loving family by his side following a brief illness. Born and raised in Sanford, N.C., Mr. Godfrey had been a resident of Lafayette for most of his life. Son of the late Ms. B. Godfrey Gilmore, he proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He had a long career as a maintenance mechanic for the Colloid Chemical Co. of Cedar Knolls, until his retirement in 1999. Mr. Godfrey loved vacationing and spending time with his family in Seaside Heights. He enjoyed good times, parties and a good cup of coffee. A loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, he will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Leon was pre deceased by his beloved wife, Judith A. (Schleer), in 1999; his son, Edward P., in 1996; his daughter, Lisa G. Godfrey, in 1999; as well as his son, Bryant K., in 2012. Survivors include his daughters, Leeann Godfrey and Tammy L. Kostka; his sons, Leon D. Godfrey and Lance B. Kostka; his companion, Jeannanie Kolodjeski, as well as his 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held Monday, April 25, at 6 p.m., in the Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home, 156 Main St. (Route 206), Newton. Memorial visitation will be held at the funeral home, Monday, from 4-6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Korean War Veterans Memorial, www.korenawarveteransmemorial.org. Grande, Gerald A. "Jerry"*  
FRANKFORD - Gerald "Jerry" A. Grande, 92, of Frankford, died Friday, April 29, 2016, at Twin Cedars Senior Living in Shohola, Pa. Jerry was born and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y., as a first generation child of the United States after his parents relocated here from Italy in the early 1920s. Jerry owned and operated his trucking company, Grande Trucking, out of Brooklyn, for many years. He was a resident of Hewitt, from 1968 to 2000, then lived in Butler before relocating to Frankford in 2012. A U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, Jerry served from 1943 to 1945. He landed in the second wave on Omaha Beach on D-Day and his unit was instrumental in liberating Paris. He fought in five major campaigns, including the Battle of the Bulge and the liberation of Dachau. He shared his experiences with students at High Point Regional High School on multiple occasions. Jerry was a founding member of the Knights of Columbus 6138 Joseph S. Toomey Council, achieving the honor of fourth degree Knight and past grand Knight. He was also an active member of the American Legion, VFW, and Retired Teamsters. The son of the late Emilio and Caroline (Fabiano) Grande, Jerry was also predeceased by his beloved wife, Maria V. (Dattoli) Grande, in 1995. He is survived by his daughter, Carol LaStarza and long term partner, Bob Quinn, of Frankford; his grandson, David LaStarza Jr., and wife, Danielle, of Frankford; his dear friend and companion, Lucy Kryschuk, of Kinnelon; his sisters, Ann Cafarella and husband, Thomas, of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Millie Cavaliere, of Staten Island, N.Y.; his brother, Frank Grande, of Staten Island, N.Y.; many nieces and nephews; and his daughter Geraldine Grande, of Cottonwood, Ariz. A graveside entombment service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 4, at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover. Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 3, from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m., at Wood Funeral Home, 16 Main St., Branchville, with a Prayer Service at 8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Marie V. Grande Scholarship Fund, c/o Donna Lembo, director of guidance, High Point Regional High School, 299 Pigeon Hill Road, Sussex, N.J. 07461, or to Honor Flight, Inc., 300 E.
