FRELINGHUYSEN - John Paul, 78, passed away Nov. 28, 2013, at Newton Medical Center, Newton.

A longtime resident of Johnsonburg, he was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Oct. 18, 1935, to the late Adolph and Elsie Alexander Paul. He was employed for more than 20 years as chief operating engineer by Seton Leather Company, Newark, and had formerly worked as an engineer at Blair Academy.

He is survived by his wife, Bertha; three sons, Linc, of Johnsonburg, Kenneth, of Upper Mt. Bethel, Pa., and Lee, of Estero, Fla.; a daughter, Serena Paul, of East Stroudsburg, Pa.; a brother, Gus Paul, of Candor, N.Y.; one sister, Margo Snyder, of Springdale; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Elsie Gruver; and a niece, Ida Mae.

Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013, at Newbaker Funeral Home, 200 Route 94, Blairstown. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Johnsonburg Methodist Cemetery, Johnsonburg. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made in John's memory to Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice, 99 Sparta Ave., Newton, NJ 07860 or to the charity of personal choice.
