Alice M. Willis

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. - Alice M. Willis, 93, of East Stroudsburg, Pa., died Friday, April 4, 2014, at Hospice House in East Stroudsburg.

Born in Sparta, Mrs. Willis grew up on a farm in Wantage, then married Elmer Willis and moved to Stillwater to raise her family. When her husband died in 1962, she moved to Newton, then moved to East Stroudsburg five years ago to live with her grandson. Mrs. Willis was the housekeeper for the Sussex County Building & Grounds and also worked for Darlington Mills in Newton making fabric. An avid gardener, she loved flowers, crocheting and word searches. Mrs. Willis especially loved cookies and root beer floats.

Mrs. Willis was predeceased by her husband, Elmer Willis; her daughter, Jean Willis; and her son, Donald Willis. She is survived by her son, Robert Willis; her daughter, Janet Tuene and husband, John; seven grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 11, at Andover Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St., Newton.
