Barbara traveled to Georgia to go to school, but soon became homesick for Belleville, and returned home. Barbara liked to ride on motorcycles and traveled many times to the shore with a group of friends. Aughenbaugh and his wife, Christine, and their children, Kayla Rose, Trevor James, and Jamie Lynn. She also is survived by her beloved husband, Chuck Aughenbaugh Jr.; three sisters, Patricia Fields, Carol Higgins and Kathleen Kmetz; a brother, Patrick Higgins and her nieces and nephews, Ethan, Erin, Danny, Allison, Jodie, Cathy, David and Kim. She was predeceased by her parents, Florence (Mac Donald) and Patrick Higgins, and two brothers, William and Donald Wilson.
Barbara was a stay-at-home mom until her children were older, then she helped run the Total Eclipse tanning salon with her daughter, and later on in life was a dentist assistant for Dr. William Schilkie of Nutley.
Barbara's hospitalization began late at night on Oct. 29, 2012, when a tree was blown over by Hurricane Sandy and demolished part of her home. Barbara was required to be on oxygen all the time, and as she had to leave her home and travel to safety, she developed bronchitis, which developed into bronchial pneumonia, which required her hospitalization.
