WANTAGE - Bonnie Briggs, 61, passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at her residence.
Born in Sussex to the late Eugene "Sonny" and Harriet Blackmore, Bonnie lived in the Sussex-Wantage area for most of her life. She had been a nurse and worked at both St. Clare's Hospital for more than 25 years and also at Newton Memorial Hospital for more than 10 years. She was very dedicated to her nursing career and often became personally involved with her patients.
Bonnie was always willing to go above and beyond for anyone who needed help and would offer to help anyone who needed it, especially people who needed medical assistance. She was truly a caring woman. Bonnie also was a member of the Auxiliary of the American Legion Post 213.
She was predeceased by her husband, James Briggs, in 1981. Bonnie is survived by her life companion, Elmer "Bucky" Morris III, of Oxford, N.Y.; her two daughters, Jessica Briggs, of Vernon, and Jillinda Briggs, of Wantage; her two sons, John Briggs and his wife, Dorothy, of Jacksonville, N.C., and Elmer Morris IV, of Oxford, N.Y.; her sisters, Charlotte Belcher, of North Port, Fla., Diane Ford, of Wantage, Peggy Blackmore, of North Port, Fla., Linda Tomczak and her husband, James, of Pine Island, N.Y., Lisa Lott and her husband, Richard, of Unionville, N.Y., Connie Feeney and her husband, Raymond, of Roxbury, and Cindy Sistler, of Ocala, Fla.; her three grandchildren, James, Jaydin and Jordin; her aunt, Eileen DeGroat, of the Plumsock section of Wantage; and numerous loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4, at Pinkel Funeral Home, 31 Bank St., Sussex. Friends may pay their respects to the family from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, at the funeral home. Private cremation services will be held at the convenience of the family.
