Charles Lloyd Taylor

BRANCHVILLE - Charles Lloyd Taylor, 87, of Branchville, died Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at his daughter's home in Montague.

Born in Raredon, Ohio, Mr. Taylor was raised in Greenfield, Ohio, and had been a resident of Sussex County for more than 55 years. He was a plumber and pipefitter at Picatinny Arsenal, where he worked for 19 years before his retirement in 1982.

A United States Army veteran, Mr. Taylor was a recipient of the Bronze Star. He was a life member of America Legion Post 157 in Branchville. Mr. Taylor enjoyed poker.

The son of the late John and Effie (Eutin) Taylor, Mr. Taylor also was predeceased by a son, Charles L. Taylor, in 1976, as well as 11 siblings. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Florence (Clayton); five children, Linda Hess of Frankford, John W. Taylor (Blu Duk) of Baleville, James Taylor of South Carolina, Thomas Taylor of Branchville, and Chris Ann Butto of Montague; 10 grandchildren, Joseph M. Butto, Howard Drake Jr., Randy Morse, Ann Marie Keim-Beachler, Megan Butto, Sharon Van Horn, Roger Hess, Patricia Taylor, Michael Lee and David Lee; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, at Wood Funeral Home, 16 Main St., Branchville. An American Legion service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, followed by an 8 p.m. prayer service, both at the funeral home.
