David Carlo Padilla

VERNON - David Carlo Padilla, of Lake Wallkill, 85, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013, at his daughter's home in Lake Wallkill, Vernon. Born to Damaso and Ysabel Padilla in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, he had lived in Bronx, N.Y., and Kissimmee, Fla., and then Wayne, before moving to the Lake Wallkill section of Vernon two years ago.

Mr. Padilla served with the United States Army during the Korean War and then worked as a machinist for Western Electric in Kearny for 30 years before retiring in 1983. Mr. Padilla was an avid Yankees and baseball fan. He also was a former Little League and Babe Ruth Coach in the Bronx.

Mr. Padilla was predeceased by his wife, Carmen Padilla (2002), and was the devoted father of Eneida La Salle and her husband, Ferdinand, of Ocala, Fla., Lydia Chmielewski and her husband, Bill, of Monmouth Beach, David Padilla and his wife, Lisa, of Bloomfield, Laura Visconti and her husband, Patrick, of Lake Wallkill, and Carlos Padilla and his wife, Jackie, of Suffern, N.Y. Loving grandfather of Michelle, Christina, Robert, JJ, Carlos Jr., Michael, Sidney and Isabella. Great-grandfather of Julian, Marcel, Diego, Samantha and Jaiver. He also left his most loving companion, Oreo.

The family will receive their friends at Ferguson-Vernon Funeral Home, 241 Route 94 (1 Vanderhoof Court for GPS), Vernon, on Friday, Feb. 22, from 10 a.m. to noon. Funeral service to commence at the funeral home at noon. Interment to follow at Warwick Cemetery, Warwick, N.Y.
