FRANKFORD - Donald "Pete" A. Elston Jr., 60, of the Lake Owassa section of Frankford Township, passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2014, surrounded by his family.
Pete was a lifelong resident of Sussex County and the owner and proprietor of Fountain Square Inn located in the town of Sussex, a family business for 50 years.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Janet, and his daughter, Rita; his mother, Joan Casterlin, of Frankford; his sister, Janice Utter and her husband, Stanley, of Frankford; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pete was predeceased by his father, Donald "Pete" A. Elston Sr., in July 2013 and his stepfather, Mahlon "Jeeter" Casterlin, in July 1989.
Since childhood, Pete was an avid hunter and fisherman. He always looked forward to sighting that big buck and scouting for game birds with his beloved hunting dogs. His fishing line was likely cast in every waterway and lake in Sussex County and countless outings took him deep sea fishing at the Jersey Shore and in the Bahamas.
In honoring Pete's last wishes, there will be no services; however, the next time you see that big buck in the woods or the ripples left by a jumping fish, think of him.
