NEWTON -- Edmund J. Bush Sr., 92, died Monday, Dec. 7, 2009 at Newton Memorial Hospital. Born and raised in New York, N.Y., he had lived many years in Oakland, N.J., and Little Egg Harbor before moving to Newton three years ago.
Son of the late Louis and Loretta (Belmy) Bush, Edmund J. was a U.S. Navy Veteran, serving in Recife, Brazil during World War II. A life member of the Sampson Vets of Sampson, N.Y., he was also a life member and past commander of the American Legion Post 369 in Oakland, as well as the Royal Order of Neptune. Mr. Bush worked many years as a maintenance engineer with the International Local 94 for RogerÕs Peet Co., and later Cluett & Peabody, both of New York, N.Y., until his retirement in 1982.
A parishioner of St. Joseph R.C. Church in Newton, Edmund J. was predeceased by his nine siblings. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Dolores D. (Schuster) Bush; his sons, Edmund J. Jr. of Frankford Township, Stephen F. of Paramus and Donald L. of Butler; seven grandchildren, Nicole Perry, Amanda, Timothy, Dannielle, Eric, Evan and Lucas Bush; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 8 a.m. at St. Joseph R.C. Church in Newton, followed by interment in the Brig. General Wm. Doyle VA Cemetery in Wrightstown. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 4-7 p.m. in the Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home, 156 Main St. (Route 206), Newton.
