Edwin Jenkins

SPARTA - Edwin Jenkins, 96, of Sparta, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, at home.

Born in Camborne, England, Mr. Jenkins settled in the Lake Lenape section of Andover Township, moved to Lafayette in 1969, then resided in Lafayette until moving to Sparta in 2011. He was a World War II Army veteran and was a self-employed carpenter. A member of the Newton Presbyterian Church, Mr. Jenkins was a past master mason of the Samaritan Lodge, a Distinguished White-Apron Brother of the Masons, and a past patron of the Northern Chapter of the Eastern Star.

Mr. Jenkins was predeceased by his wife of 70 years, Florence, in 2010; a daughter, Joanne Jenkins; a granddaughter, Tara Jenkins; and a sister, Myra Shaw.

He is survived by his son, Joel, and his wife, Donna, of Sparta; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be held sometime in late December.
