Hazel D. Williams

BRANCHVILLE - Hazel D. Williams, 93, passed away Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, in the comfort of her home, which she shared with her granddaughter, AnnaMarie Heverly, her husband, Randy, their son, Lil' Randy, and his girlfriend, Leibby.

Hazel was born Feb. 8, 1919, in Stillwater Township to the late Clark and Blanche Westbrook. She resided in Stillwater for much of her life where she, her husband and their three daughters worked their family farm. In 1972, she moved with her husband, Clarence, and their granddaughter, AnnaMarie, for a short time to Bedford, Va., before returning to New Jersey and settling in Branchville. Hazel enjoyed a career as a cook for the former Methodist Manor in Branchville and St. Paul's Abbey in Newton.

An avid reader, Hazel spent many happy hours reading the novels she so loved. She also enjoyed playing Bingo with her friends, sometimes going as much as four times per week. She recently had the ""best time ever,"" she stated, on a day trip to Mt. Airy to play the penny machines with her granddaughter, AnnaMarie.

Hazel was predeceased by her husband, Clarence E. Williams, in 1996, and seven siblings.

She is survived by three daughters, Joan Underwood, and her companion, John Matthews, of Franklin, RuthAnn Como, of Elgin, S.C., and Judith Melki, of Roanoke, Va.

She also is survived by seven grandchildren, Keith Schoonover, and his wife, Linda, of Hamburg, Ronald Schoonover, and his wife, Susan, of Southwest Ranches, Fla., AnnaMarie Heverly, and her husband, Randy, of Branchville, Sandra Bennett, and her husband, Joe, of Bedford, Va., Diana Como, of Elgin, S.C., and Venus and Justin Melki, of Roanoke, Va.; 10 great-grandchildren, Jason Schoonover, and his wife, Danielle, of Vernon, Randy Heverly II, of Branchville, Theresa Emma, and her husband, Brian, of Branchville, Frank and Kim Schoonover, of Hamburg, Amanda, Jessica and Ryan Schoonover, of Southwest Ranches, Fla., and Brittany and Jamie Bennett,
of Bedford, Va.; and three great-great-grandchildren, Isaac Schoonover, of Vernon, and Tyler and Lillian Emma, of Branchville.

Friends and family may pay their respects from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, at Wood Funeral Home, located at 16 Main St. in Branchville. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at North Hardyston Cemetery, aka North Church Cemetery, on Route 94.
