MONTAGUE - James "Jim" H. Phillips lost his battle with cancer on Dec. 18, 2012, with family by his side.
Jim was born Sept. 9, 1955, in Dover. His family moved to Morrisville, Pa., where he grew up and attended Morrisville High School. In 1974, his family moved back to Sussex County. After he married his wife in December 1978, they moved to Milford, Pa., and lived there for 14 years before settling in Montague to raise their family.
Jim started his career as a long-haul truck driver. After doing that for some years, he then got into computers and became a network administrator. Jim liked to do a lot of things including web design and fixing computers. His favorite pastime of all was riding motorcycles, more specifically, Harleys. He always said he felt the most at peace when he was riding.
Jim is survived by his wife of 34 years, Marguerite; son, Louis Phillips; brother, Clark Phillips, and his wife, Jeannie, of Whitehall, Ohio; brother, Kenneth Phillips, and his wife, Debbie, of Powell, Ohio; sister, Carol Turner, and her husband, John, of Franklin; nine sisters-in-law, Theresa Gavin, Catherine Champon, Louise Nash, Rosemarie McManus, and her husband, Ed, Elizabeth Cox, Judith Nichols, and her husband, Michael, Diane Binn, and her husband, Josh, Mary Marinelli, and her husband, Greg, and Marilyn Wagner, and her husband, Ross; two brothers-in-law, Henry Cox, and his wife, Mary Ellen, and Alfred Cox, and his wife, Maureen; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jim was predeceased by his mother, Evelyn; father, Victor Kenneth; sister, Jane; and sister, Patricia.
We ask family and friends to celebrate Jim's life on Friday, Dec. 21, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., at Gray-Parker Funeral Home, 100 E. Main St., Port Jervis, NY 12771. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 22, with a 10 a.m. prayer at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, 210 Route 206 North, Sandyston, NJ 07826. A private cremation will be held at H.G. Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg, Pa.
