James L. Stevens

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. - James L. Stevens, 62, died after a short illness at VNA Hospice in East Stroudsburg on Saturday, March 16, 2013. Born to Douglas and Joan Stevens in Franklin, N.J., he grew up in Ogdensburg, N.J., then lived in Vernon, N.J., before moving to East Stroudsburg 25 years ago.

Mr. Stevens served with the United States Army during the Vietnam War and then worked as a driver and then warehouse manager for High Grade Beverage in Randolph, N.J., for 40 years before retiring in 2012. Mr. Stevens enjoyed classical music, hunting and being outdoors.

Mr. Stevens was predeceased by his father, Douglas Stevens. He was the devoted father of Jeremy Stevens, of Hardyston, N.J.; loving son of Joan Stevens, of Ogdensburg, N.J.; dear brother of Mimi Gilpatrick, of Westtown, N.Y., Jane Stevens, of Frankford, N.J., Doug Stevens, of Layton, N.J., and Nick Stevens, of Ogdensburg.

The family will receive their friends at F. John Ramsey Funeral Home, 1 Main St., Franklin, on Tuesday, March 19, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral will be held at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, March 20, followed by a funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception R.C. Church, Franklin, at 11 a.m. Cremation will be private.
