Jane L. Cole

ANDOVER BOROUGH -- Jane L. Cole, 81, of Andover Borough, died Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at home.

Born in Rahway, Mrs. Cole was a longtime resident of Sussex County. She was a bus driver for 50 years, driving for the Frank L. Black Bus Co., then Ryder Bus Co., then First Student. In all her years of driving, she never had an accident.

She loved the kids and missed them when she retired one year ago. A member of St. Joseph R.C. Church in Newton, Mrs. Cole was a Den Leader for the Boy Scouts when her sons were involved in Scouting. She ran “Survivors of Suicide” in Madison for 15 years and was a Senior Citizen of the Year for Andover Borough. Mrs. Cole was an artist who especially enjoyed working with watercolors.

The daughter of the late Tardia and Mary (Storch) Tomkiewicz, Mrs. Cole was also predeceased by two sons, Wade M. Cole Sr. and Dale W. Cole, and a brother, Walter E. Tomkiewicz. She is survived by two sons, Lane T. Cole and wife, Patti, of Arizona, and Otis J. Cole Jr. and fiancée, Cindy, of Lopatcong; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Florence Marsciovetti, of Mine Hill.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 1 at the Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St., Newton, followed by interment in Andover Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 30, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
