Jean B. Gajewski

SPARTA --Jean B. Gajewski (nee Lesobey), 86, of Sparta, formerly of Jersey City, passed away at her residence after a brief illness on Wednesday, April 17, 2013.

Born in Jersey City, Jean was a clerk at Mechanics Finance Co. for more than 30 years and remained a devoted resident until moving to Sparta four years ago. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church, Jersey City.

Jean is predeceased by her husband, Edmund F. Gajewski. She is survived by her children, Mark Gajewski (Victoria), Francis Gajewski (Ret. Chief, JCPD) (Joan), Janet Berardi (Anthony) and Barbara Costa (Matthew); grandchildren, Michael (Lt., JCPD), Brian (Sgt., JCPD), Jeffrey (Sgt., JCPD) and Christopher Gajewski, Natasha Alfsen, Alexander Berardi, Ashley Corey, Piper and Rocco Costa; sister, Stephanie Kenefick; and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be at McLaughlin Funeral Home, 625 Pavonia Ave., Jersey City, on Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to assemble at the funeral home on Monday at 9:30 a.m. prior to the Mass, which will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Church, Jersey City, at 10:30 a.m. Entombment follows at Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, North Arlington.
