Jean Elizabeth Sartell

VERNON - Jean Elizabeth Sartell, 76, a homemaker and lifelong resident of Vernon, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, at Barn Hill Care Center, Newton.

She was born in Vernon on Jan. 19, 1937, the only daughter of the late William Predmore and the late Amelia (Luft) Predmore.

She was the wife of Willard Sartell Sr. and they recently celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary on Jan. 21, 2013.

A family statement reads: "She enjoyed going to Tricky Trays, and she found pleasure in watching and knowing the names of birds. When you see a bluebird or a hummingbird, think of Mom. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Say hello to Grandma for us. We would like to thank the nurses and nurse's aides on the Sparta Hall for their loving care that they gave Mom while she was there."

Survivors include her husband, Willard, at home; son, Willard Sartell Jr. and his wife, Barbara, of Cambridge, N.Y.; daughter, Donna Quackenbush and her husband, Darell, of Pine Island, N.Y.; daughter, Carol Van Herwynen and her husband, John, of Montague; grandchildren, David Sartell and his wife, Jeanna, of Cambridge, N.Y., Daniel Sartell and his fiancée, Heather Anuszewski, of Greenwich, N.Y., Roy Quackenbush and his wife, Kacie, of Pine Island, Geoffrey Quackenbush and his wife, Brittany, of Vernon, Jonathon, Joseph and Megan Vanherwynen, of Montague; and great-grandchildren, Arianna, Landon, Patrick, Payton and Paige. Also survived by brothers, Clifford Predmore and his wife, Wanda, of Montague, Kenneth Predmore and his wife, Karen, of McAfee, William Predmore and his wife, Janice, of Montague; sister-in-law, Judy Predmore, of Hainesville; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special aunt, Clara Henry, of Warwick, N.Y. She was predeceased by an infant son, David, and by brothers, Donald Predmore and Warren Predmore.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 6, at the funeral home, followed by interment in Glenwood Cemetery, Vernon.
