ANDOVER TOWNSHIP -- Joseph J. Marone, 88, of Andover Township, died Friday, May 30, 2014, at Newton Medical Center surrounded by family.
Born in Lodi, Mr. Marone had been a resident of Andover Township since 1969. He was a graduate of Baylor University School of Law and was a real estate developer with All American Realty in Hackensack before his retirement. Mr. Marone was a World War II United States Navy
veteran. A member of Newton Country Club, he was a member of the Texas Bar Association and was a member and past Exalted Ruler of B.P.O.E. Lodge 2080 in Teaneck.
The son of the late John J. and Delphine Marone, Mr. Marone was also predeceased by his wife, Catherine A. Marone, on April 28, 2010, and three sisters, Mary Matrullo, Mildred Vasta and Evelyn Karlsson. He is survived by three daughters, Pamela Ahlstrand and husband, David, of Dingmans Ferry, Pa., Catherine Roy and husband, Tom, of Fredon, and Sue King and husband, Ronald, of York, Pa.; one son, Stephen Marone and wife, Kim, of Belvidere; and nine grandchildren, Stephen King, Terri King, Sarah VanSyckel, Daniel Ahlstrand, Jacob Ahlstrand, Eamon Marone, Abigail Marone, Tommy Roy and Erin Roy.
Funeral services will begin at 9 a.m. Thursday at the Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St., Newton, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Lake R.C. Church, 294 Sparta Ave., Sparta. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Hackensack. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
