Judith Ann Kehde

MORRIS PLAINS - It is with much love that we remember Judith Ann Kehde, 72, who died peacefully on Dec. 20, 2013, at St. Clare's Hospital in Denville surrounded by her family.

Judy resided in Morris Plains for 17 years and previously in Frankford Township for 18 years. The daughter of Marjorie Bell and Walter S. Fritz Jr., she was born in Honesdale, Pa. She graduated from Boonton High School in 1959, earning a Bachelor of Arts from Douglass College, Rutgers University, in 1963.

She was a social worker for New Jersey's Division of Youth and Family Services before having children. A devoted wife and mother, Judith took great pleasure in caring for her family. She returned to paid employment in 1992 and continued until her final, brief illness, first running the gift shop at Sunrise House in Lafayette before becoming the evening receptionist for the admissions department. In 1997 she added an additional job as a taste tester, and also worked for Mondelez, in Whippany. A warm, compassionate and social person, Judy's wit and charm enlivened any occasion.

Judy is survived by her daughter, Kendra C. Kehde and son-in-law Corrie K. Campbell, of Eatontown; son, Brendan Kehde, daughter-in-law, Kristin, and granddaughter, Ava Jane Kehde, of Jupiter, Fla.; her father, Walter S. Fritz Jr., of Franklin; sisters, Mundell Fisher, of Sussex, and Michaele Finneran, of Montague; the father of her children, Karl Kehde, of The Villages, Fla.; nieces, Gretchen Fisher, of Oak Ridge, Larissa Finneran, of Jersey City, Tara Finneran, of East Stroudsburg, Pa.; and nephew, Ernest Fisher, of Branchburg. She was predeceased by her daughter, Vanessa Michele Kehde, and also by her mother, Marjorie Fritz.

A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 26, at the Morristown Unitarian Fellowship, 21 Normandy Heights Road, Morristown. Please send roses (any color) to be delivered there on Friday, Jan. 24, or make a donation in her name to The Compassionate Friends, www.compassionatefriends.org.
