Judith Isabel Kent

WANTAGE - Judith Isabel (Wittlinger) Kent, 67, died after a long illness at Compassionate Care Hospice at Saint Clare's Hospital, Dover, on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012. Born to William and Isabel Wittlinger in Newark, she had lived in Newark, Belleville and Bloomfield before moving to Wantage 22 years ago.

Mrs. Kent earned her registered nurse degree from Beth Israel Hospital School of Nursing in Newark and worked in pediatrics, geriatrics and then became a quality assurance coordinator and assistant nursing director, as well as a director of nursing with numerous health care facilities including United Hospitals Medical Center, Newark; Clara Maas Continuing Care Center, Belleville; White House Nursing Home, Orange; Saint Clare's Hospital, Dover; and Sussex County Homestead, Frankford, retiring from Arbor Glen in Cedar Grove after five years in 2006. She was a member of the Sussex congregation of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses and enjoyed crocheting, watching HDTV and doing crosswords. She was very caring and giving, putting others ahead of herself; she always had a cheerful outlook and was the "rock" of the family.

Mrs. Kent was the beloved wife of Willard J. Kent Jr., of Wantage; devoted mother of Willard J. Kent III, of Wantage, Michael D. Kent, of Oswego, N.Y., Sarah Jane Kent, of Wantage, and Timothy Kent, of Bridgewater; dear sister of William Wittlinger, of Belleville, and loving daughter of Isabel Wittlinger, of Belleville.

The family will receive their friends at Ferguson Funeral Home, 27 Third St., Sussex, on Wednesday, Dec. 26, from 1 to 7 p.m. Cremation will be private. Information and condolences can be found at www.fergusonsussexfuneralhome.com.
