Lawrence H. Stephens

ANDOVER BOROUGH - Lawrence H. Stephens, 90, of Andover Borough, died Monday, April 21, 2014, at the Homestead Rehab and Healthcare Center.

Born in Long Valley, Mr. Stephens lived in the Schooley's Mountain section of Long Valley prior to moving to Andover Borough in 1957. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II. Mr. Stephens was a machine operator and inspector for the Schindler Elevator Company (previously Westinghouse) in Randolph.

The son of the late Mildred Stephens, he also was predeceased by a grandson, Jeffrey Gable. Mr. Stephens is survived by his wife of 66 years, Wanda (Mincevich) Stephens; five children, Carolyn Lynch, of Palm Harbor, Fla., Linda Stephens, of the Lake Lenape section of Andover Township, Betty Ann Wojciechowski, of Hopatcong, Robert Stephens, of Monroe, N.C., and Mark Stephens, of Newton; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 7 p.m. Thursday, April 24, at Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St., Newton. Visitation will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
