Mary A. Smith

OCALA, Fla. - Mary A. Smith, 100, died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at Chambrel at Pinecastle in Ocala, Fla. Mrs. Smith, daughter of the late Joseph and Matruna (Kunisky) Stankowich, was born in New York City on May 27, 1912. She had resided in Franklin for more than 90 years before moving to Ocala 12 years ago.

Mrs. Smith was a machine operator at the former Morley Shirt Co. in Franklin for 23 years, retiring in 1974. She was an auxiliary member of Sgt. Francis M. Glynn American Legion Post 132 of Franklin.

Mrs. Smith was predeceased by her husband, Minton Smith, in 1990; brother, Alex Stankowich, in 1969; and a sister, Sophie Mindlin, in 2007. She is survived by a niece and two nephews, Mary DeStefano, of Sparta, Alex Stankowich, of Calabash, S.C., and Joseph Stankowich, of Brea, Calif.

A graveside service will be held at noon Friday, Dec. 21, in North Hardyston Cemetery (old section). Arrangements are by F. John Ramsey Funeral Home, One Main St., Franklin. Condolences may be sent to www.fjohnramseyfuneralhome.com.
