Robert J. Lee

MONTAGUE - Robert J. Lee, 77, of Montague, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014, in Compassionate Care Hospice at St. Clare's Hospital in Dover.

Born in Newton, Mr. Lee was a longtime resident of Sussex County. He was a United States Air Force veteran and was a custodian for Century Link in Lafayette for 25 years. An avid fisherman, Mr. Lee also was a bow and arrow hunter. He enjoyed cooking and was a New York Yankee fan. He especially loved his family and adored his grandchildren.

The son of the late Harold James and Ellen (Heater) Lee, Mr. Lee also was predeceased by his wife, Barbara Jean (Mackerley) Lee, in July of 1991. He is survived by two sons, Robert J. Mackerley and wife, Janine, of Dingmans Ferry, Pa., and Randy Lee of Montague; a daughter, Sue Dykstra and husband, Joshua, of Montague; and his grandchildren, Robert Jr., Lucas and Cameron Mackerley and Courtney, Hailey and Jaden Dykstra. He also is survived by two brothers, Harold "Butch" Lee and Steven Lee; two sisters, Joan Hallowich and Beverly Roff; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at noon Tuesday, Feb. 18, at Wood Funeral Home, 16 Main St., Branchville. Interment will follow in Deckertown-Union Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday at the funeral home.
