Robert J. Ross

HARDYSTON - Robert J. Ross, 70, died after a short illness at his home on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013. Born to William and Celia Ross in Nanticoke, Pa., he spent most of his adult life in West Milford before moving to the Crystal Springs section of Hardyston 12 years ago.

Mr. Ross received his master's degree in education and served as principal of Jefferson Township High School for 20 years. He was a professor at William Paterson University for the last five years and served as an educational consultant at Passaic County Technical Institute. He was a parishioner at St. Thomas of Aquin R.C. Church in Ogdensburg, and was an avid golfer.

Mr. Ross was the beloved husband of Joanne (McGarry) Ross; devoted father of Christine Alois, of Wyoming, Del., and Becky Ross, of Harrisburg, Pa.; father-in-law of Vincent and Nick; loving grandfather of Vincent and Samantha. He was cherished by many friends, colleagues and his "Lady Mulligan."

The family will receive their friends at Ferguson-Vernon Funeral Home, 241 Route 94 (1 Vanderhoof Court for GPS), Vernon, on Wednesday, Feb. 20, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral will be held from the funeral home at 9 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., at St. Thomas of Aquin R.C. Church, Ogdensburg. Interment will follow at St. Thomas Cemetery, Ogdensburg.
