Virginia L. Slockbower

HARDYSTON - Virginia L. Slockbower, 89, passed away Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012, at Barn Hill Care Center.

Born in Hamburg to the late Harold and Norma Smith, Mrs. Slockbower had lived in Sussex County all of her life. She had worked as an executive manager for 25 years at McGregor's in Newton and upon their closing, Mrs. Slockbower then worked for Ply Gems Corp. in Newton before her retirement.

She was predeceased by her husband, Russell Slockbower Jr., in 2008. Mrs. Slockbower is survived by her son, Peter H. Kolan Jr., of Hardyston; two granddaughters, Brie Stellato, of Franklin and Aimee Kolan, of Lake Hopatcong; two great-grandchildren; her two nieces, Shirley Grossi and her husband, Nick, of California and Linda Powers and her husband, Jim Walker, of Florida; her nephew, James Powers and his wife, Chris, of Florida; and her great-niece, Krista Noetdel, and her husband, Christian, of California, and their two children, also of California.

Graveside memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 9, at North Hardyston Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations may be made to the Disabled Veterans, PO Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.
