William "Bill" J. Davis

STILLWATER - William "Bill" J. Davis, 73, of Stillwater, died Monday, Sept. 23, 2013, at Morristown Medical Center.

Born in New York City, Bill was a longtime resident of Stillwater. He was a United States Army veteran and was an electrician for IBEW Local 164 in Hackensack before his retirement. A member of the VFW in Scranton, Pa., Bill also was a Stillwater Fireman and a member of the Lyons Club in Blairstown. He was an avid hunter, collected guns and liked target practice and skeet. Bill also enjoyed going on cruises.

The son of the late William F. and Doris (Williams) Davis, Bill also was predeceased by a sister, Nancy Pelligrino. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Margaret (Bell) Davis; five children, Kathryn Ann Hunter and her husband, James, of Oklahoma, William Francis Davis and wife, Theresa, of Hampton, John Robert Davis and wife, Lori, of Colesville, Wendy Jean Van Gorden and husband, David, of Fredon, and Dawn Jennifer Guthrie and husband, Wesley, of Alabama; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his sister, Frances Carlucci, of Colonia; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 27, at Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St., Newton. Interment will follow in Stillwater Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, at the funeral home.
